I try to make anyone who reads this book feel that the bland, ordinary spaces they are familiar with on a daily basis are actually all much richer and more interesting. Space can span time, carry countless billions of things, and contain infinite energy. And it's not just space, memories, ideas, and other ordinary objects that may have a colourful side to them when explored carefully.
The concept of "Defamiliarization" originates from the Russian formalist literary theory, which means to make the familiar things strange through certain artistic techniques, so as to increase the difficulty and time of people's perception and achieve the purpose of enhancing the artistic effect.
This project conveys my reflections on embracing imperfections and growth through a rotating monumental sculpture and a "tooth ID." The oral base and irregular teeth of the sculpture symbolize my reconciliation with the imperfections of my own body, while the rotating design and its changing elements represent healing and the courage to move forward. Through this creation, I commemorate the setbacks and growth in life and explore the unique stories and emotional connections each person has with their teeth.
