This project was inspired by the multiple suicide letters left by my friend, which record his inner transformation from nihilism to gradually discovering his self-worth. This process not only reflects the philosophical contemplation of the end of life but also the complexity of the search for meaning through extreme adversity. In order to present this interweaving of thoughts and emotions, I decided to design a board game centered around life and meaning based on a board game he left me. The design uses symbolic props and narrative techniques to express the emotions and mental dilemmas experienced in the pursuit of life's meaning. I designed the font by extracting traces of daily use on his personal objects. The simple color scheme, the use of manuscript-style fonts, and the mosaic white space showcased the unreliability and uncertainty of personal narratives. Through simulation and exploration, the game aims to guide players to think about the meaning of life, the inevitability of death, and the pursuit of meaning against nihilism, achieving a more profound discussion of the meaning of self-existence.

In the project, I analyzed my complex emotions for unpleasant past memories based on the emotional experience conveyed by the spyhole and the memories triggered by it. By exploring the metaphorical significance of the spyhole as a memory channel, I revealed its unique role in evoking memories. Then, I designed an innovative exploratory web game that integrates the styles of spyholes and dream cores based on the commonality of the perspectives of spyholes and dream cores and the healing ability of dream cores. The game aims to encourage players to examine and accept their inner selves through re-experiencing or fixing their past regrets as they play the game.

This project explores conflicts that arise from differences between individual consciousness. Based on the conflicts triggered by insects, the origin of many contradictions is the differences between individual consciousness. At the same time, the contradictions brought by differences between individual consciousnesses also bring severe impacts on the entire human society. Understand and treat these conflicts triggered by differences between individual consciousness from the insects' perspective, which has a similar social structure to humans but drastically different in details. Uncover the truth of the incident with investigations and deduction methods. Scrutinize human conflicts from an outsider's angle and satirize the serious results brought by conflicts of individual consciousnesses.

This project is based on the subtle sense of consensus that arises from moving from conflict to mutual understanding during tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs). It explores the role of similar narrative frameworks in fostering this sense of consensus. The project culminates in a collaborative story archetype. It invites different authors to reinterpret and recreate texts under the same story framework based on their unique perspectives, and then has others visualize and depict scenes and imagery inspired by these reimagined texts. The visual style integrates storytelling mediums from different eras, including murals, illustrations, and comics. By analyzing, deconstructing, and reconstructing story archetypes, the project seeks to encourage consensus and embrace diversity.
