In modern society, it seems to have become a common phenomenon that people generally feel a sense of exhaustion and powerlessness, and feel that they have lost their passion and motivation for life. Research has shown that this phenomenon stems from alienation. Alienation makes people feel that they no longer belong to themselves. Many philosophers have used the story of Sisyphus as a metaphor for this phenomenon. Therefore, I designed a diary of Sisyphus by imagining the life of Sisyphus. At the same time, I designed a diary for modern people, so that those who are in a state of alienation can alleviate their alienation feelings by comparing the diary of Sisyphus.
Next to my house there is a labour market where casual workers pick up work. The workers have to work outdoors for long hours in the scorching summer and face problems such as heat stroke and fever. These people are a neglected group in the city. So in this design, I made the font design through the daily life scenes of the casual workers, hoping that the society can pay more attention to this group.
I have noticed that in China there has been a craze for holding strings. People are obsessed with the patina. Through my research, I learned that rotating strings and patina is not only a hobby, but also has deep cultural connotations. The act of winding also contains the Buddhist symbolism of reincarnation, and that's why I designed the book and the exhibition. I want to show the cultural and aesthetic value behind the strings and express my feelings and emotions when I rotate the string.
I am the owner of a canned food store. My cans are attractively packaged and have a special effect: they can satisfy people's desires and dissipate their inner anxieties. In this age of information explosion, they crave for ready-made answers to satisfy their inner cravings, and my canned food can satisfy such cravings. So they buy it without control. But those people who eat my canned food become addicted, their heads gradually turn into a can. They get what they want and I get the money. It's a fair trade.
