In this project, I explore the theme of TRANSFORMATION by examining the changing nature and disappearance of the "New Year flavor" in both the traditional and modern Spring Festivals. Through the process of designing the book, I juxtapose the vibrant celebrations of the past with the more monotonous atmosphere of today's Spring Festival, highlighting the reasons behind these changes. My aim is to revive the traditional flavors and customs of the Spring Festival through the concept of "New Year goods," offering readers a nostalgic glimpse into the festive spirit of the past.
Throughout the project, I explored the changes in the relationship between pets and owners, as well as the changes in the role and feelings of pets from the past to the present. In the design process, I made a scarf from the pet's perspective, which integrated the pet's living habits and the experience of growing up with the owner, and also reflected the pet's emotional understanding of the owner. The elements on the scarf symbolize the memories of growing up together and embody the pet's response to the emotional needs of its owner.
There are two very important themes in Soundscape's festival. One is "Found Sound" and the other one is "Spoken Words," these two themes need to be very familiar and understandable for the festival. So before designing, I made a mind map about these two themes. Through the mind map, I have a basic understanding of them.
In the theme of Place and Space, I explore the habits and pressures of international students through the refrigerator. As well as the security they derive from the different ingredients in their fridge.
