In the past, vegetative patients were often seen as mere lifeless shells, existing only through basic vitalsigns in a minimally conscious state. They lay silently, unable to move or speak, with their thoughtsseemingly trapped in a silent world, their quality of life uncertain and likened to that of a plant. With scientific progress, our understanding ofvegetative patients has fundamentally changed. Recent researchreveals that some retain consciousness but cannot communicate traditionally due to physical limita.tions. They can still perceive their surroundings and maintain self-awareness, despite being unable tospeak. My project aims to explore and express the inner experiences of vegetative patients, indirectly reflect.ing their consciousness. lt seeks to reveal their potential inner world and, more importantly, improvetheir living conditions and quality of life. We hope that in the future, these silent lives will gain more re-spect and attention, and their voices will be heard in the silence. MCS (Minimal Conscious State) refers to a condition inwhich patients exhibit severe alterations in con-sciousness, but their behavior demonstrates minimalyet distinct awareness of themselves and their sur-roundings. Patients in a minimal conscious state areconscious and awake, and compared to those in avegetative state, they show unstable but detectablesensory responses. I have witnessed the awkwardness my friends experience in social situations and the immense dificulty social interactions bring to their lives. This has inspired me to create a project aimed at improving the lives ofthose with social anxiety. People with social anxiety often find themselvestrapped in a dilemma where they are unable to initiate social interactions, which can unintentionally harm both themselves and those aroundthem. Many suffer from humiiation and discrimination, leading to violations of their human rights, which only exacerbates their condition, potentially evolving into both phsical and psvchological disorders,According to data rom the wHo,in 2019,1 in 8 people, or 970 milion peopleworidwide, had a mental disorder. many of whom sufer from social anxiety, Although there are effective prevention and treatment solutionsavailable, most people with social anxiety do not receive adequate care or treatment. The proiect aims to combine fashion with medical equipment and interacive devices to create a bridge between individuals with social anxietand the public through non-direct social interaction. lt will use a medium to convey information between both parties, turning face-to-faceinteraction into a softer form of indirect communication. My goal is to help individuals with social anxiety gently alter their lifestyles and engagein social activities in the least intrusive way possible, reducing the harm they experience and the harm others cause them, Ultimately, the proieciaims to contribute to the WHO's goal of reducing the global incidence of mental disorders by one-third in the next decade.
