In mid-July, my great-aunt (my grandfather's cousin) passed away, and I was invited to attend her three-day funeral. I took photographs of rural funeral rites in Anhui, the Huang family ancestral hall, and my grandmother's personal belongings. Important contributors and distinguished members of the family are commemorated in the family's ancestral hall. These photographs reflect our deep connection to lineage and kinship, an indispensable part of rural Chinese culture, embodying complex and profound emotions of grief, order, sanctity, rebirth, and affection.
IThis is a fabricated archive exhibition about the natural disaster known as "blood rain" that occurred in China in the 1970s and 1980s. The exhibition includes textual materials, visual materials, and the exhibition environment, that’s all my fictional made up on purpose. Given the official nature of the subject, I've chosen to create an environment that mimics a traditional Chinese office corner. It's decorated with a black leather sofa, redwood furniture, green plants, and traditional Chinese paintings. Explores the relationship between reality and fiction, history and memory
This photography project constructs a series of cross-scene images, covering multipleenvironments such as card tables, unfinished buildings, classrooms, coffins, streetsand grasslands, weaving a multi-dimensional and multi-layered story stage. Through post-processing techniques such as collage, repetition and blur effects, theabsurd and surreal atmosphere of the work is strengthened, depicting the spiritualtrajectory of the fictional character "Li" in his search for self in the journey of life.
The deaf-mute community can perceive sounds emanating from their own bodiesthrough solid-state sound transmission. This device captures unique sounds emittedby the deaf-mute individual's body and blends them with other sounds from reallife. The processed audio is then fed into a loudspeaker, where a laser shines onto amirror attached to the loudspeaker's diaphragm to create a visual representation. The device generates corresponding graphics and images in real-time, based onthe frequency and amplitude of the sounds. These graphics offer an intuitive displayof the deaf-mute individual's inner world and physical state, providing viewers witha novel sensory experience.
