Though the UK is now an inextricable partof who l am, i’ve come to deeply cherish the holidays when l can returnto China and be with my parents and grandparents-moments l oncetook for granted as a child. This project is a reflection on the bond l shared with my grandmotherbefore l left home at the age of nine. lt is my attempt to revisit andpreserve the fragments ofthat relationship. Nostalgia connects us-it reminds us ofimpermanence. Nǎi Nai is an odeto memory: fragile in biology, enduring in art.
