Highly urbanised Detroit, USA has seen the gap between the rich and the poor widen,and social injustices such as homeless have become commonplace. The Packard Factory,once a symbol of Detroit's prosperity,is now in a state of decay. This project transforms the Packard Factory into an egalitarian and inclusive community that houses the homeless and provides public space for low-income people in the neighbourhood. This project will revitalise the Packard Factory and alleviate the inequities of Detroit's urbanisation.
Due to global climate change,urban development and landscape tourism development, monarch butterfly breeding and overwintering habitats have been destroyed and populations have declined dramatically. This project balances the symbiotic relationship between humans,plants and monarch butterflies through plant redistribution and multi-party crowd participation. It also proposes to establish a new model of tourism to provide protection for the migration of monarch butterflies.
Roosevelt Island has many sources of energy such as tidal energy, wind energy, and solar energy, but they have not been well utilised, The city is in the midst of a warming climate,and the hope is that the design will enable the island's energy transition, allowing for self-sufficient development and exploring more possibilities for the future of Roosevelt Island.The design includes areas for energy collection and storage,more interactive areas,and educational experiences.
Congo, one of the poorest countries, is paying a heavy price for clean energy reforms around the world human rights issues such as bribery, violence, child labour, abandoned mining pits and growing ecological problems. The Katanga province in southern Congo has the world's highest production and reserves of cobalt, with 75 cobalt mining sites, and humanrights, tailings and ecological issues that need to be addressed. The project proposes strategies for 2010,2025,2040 and 2055 to advocate for the rights of children and the Congolese people,deal with abandoned pits to provide recreational areas and restore ecosystems back to the Gardenof Eden.
